February 25, 2013

I couldn't figure out a witty or interesting way to start this weeks entry so there we go. Now that's over with we can just get on with things, correct?

The semester is almost half way over. Would you believe it? I sure can't. Doesn't feel like it. Never feels like it. Spring break starts at the end of next week. I've never had a spring break before. High School doesn't count because you're too young to do anything real for it and if you are in high school and you are having a 'real' spring break then you're probably one pompous little idjit who's going to end up ruining your life anyway. Anywho, Idaho didn't have spring breaks. Funny thing though, now that I have one I'm not really doing anything. Since I have a job, I have a responsibility to earn money and stuffs. I am however going to still be enjoying my holiday. The Muse concert just so happens to be next weekend and I can't think of a better way to kick off my break.

This weekend was super nice because I got to see my parents. It was a drive by visit, because they stopped to see me Friday and Sunday as they went to and from Chicago to spend the weekend with my sister. I'm just glad I got to see them and spend time with them. It's nice to be close to them and to be able to see them more than once every six months. I'm lucky to have parents that tolerate me, I really am.

I made snickerdoodle blondies this week because I'd promised a friend I'd make them for her on Valentines day but it turned out to be too busy last week. They were very good. So good that I wasn't even able to snap a photo of them before they were all gone. I guess that just means that I'll have to make some more some time soon. They're basically snickerdoodle cookies just in brownie-esk form. I also made banana bread yesterday but that's not nearly as interesting... although just as delicious.

Tonight was the Oscars. Tis the reason that I am writing this so late that it's technically Monday instead of Sunday. I don't have a television. My internet is not livestream friendly. Also homework. I almost didn't even watch them. Almost.

I think I've mentioned before how much the Oscars mean to me? Film itself means a lot to me. Tonight thousands of people came together to celebrate that beautiful media and millions were able to watch. I dream a dream where I throw a beautiful awesome Oscars party where my friends and I get together and watch the Oscars in fancy dress and eat things off toothpicks. Never happens. Either I'm too busy or I work or there's school or there's distance or issues and problems and money and ugh. Didn't happen this year either, of course. As I said, I don't really have a television. I confided in Stephanie about how depressed I was about not being able to watch them and she was amazing and decided to skype me while she watched it with her family and just pointed her camera at the television. I was able to watch (most of it, missed some of the middle there due to batteries dying and such) vicariously through her. I have amazing friends, I must say.

Maybe next year I'll be able to have that party. Or maybe some friends and I will just sit around in grubby pajamas and watch while shoving our faces with poptarts. That'd be good as well.

Ended up saying yes to that boy for that date this week. I figure I should give people a chance and it could be fun. Also free ice cream. So there's that to look forward to!
