Tuesday was my roommate Sarah's birthday. We went out to dinner at Applebee's with her and then back at our apartment she invited loads of people over for cake.
The rest of the week, I was pretty much in birthday preparation for Kyle mode. His 22nd birthday was on Thursday. We went out to dinner and then had cake. It was a strawberry champagne cake that I made. Took forever and it wasn't exactly perfect but everyone seemed to be okay with it and that's all that matters.
Two layers of Champagne cake with a fresh strawberry spread between them and strawberries on top! I made the frosting from scratch as well but I think it was a little too sugary? I'm not an expert at frosting yet.
Funny thing, Lorie and I were both spending a lot of time on cakes this week because Adam's birthday was on Friday! I gave her a recipe that I've always been too chicken to make myself. It's pretty much cookie overdose cake with cookie dough inbetween, on top and all around. I guess hers turned out great as well!
I got Kyle the Game of Thrones board game for his birthday. He knew what I was getting him because I'm horrible at keeping secrets. Not sure who he's going to play it with, probably will not be with me. I'm not so great at strategy board games. Card games I can do but I've never played Risk before in my life even though we've owned it in the Miller household. It's almost the same thing, but ten times more confusing.
Today is my father's birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him! Although, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a happy birthday because they're on a cruise right now with my grandparents. Can't even reach them via telephone to call happy birthday. Oh well, I'll get him when he gets back.
I guess that just means that this week was birthday week.
(oh yeah, I had extra batter so I made some champagne cupcakes. The boys didn't get any of these though, left them special just for my apartment)
By Friday, my sunburn was feeling almost all the way healed (except I'm peeling, I was hoping to avoid that but alas) but then I went to Rigby lake with Emily and Sarah and then Saturday, Kyle's ward had another activity. They do fun things like mud volleyball and lakes and such. Still, now I'm sunburnt again. A sunburn on top of a sunburn. It's summer, right?
Woo! I'm getting fried this summer too! I think by the time we see each other in Michigan in August we'll be pretty much fish sticks. ...not that we were fish before getting fried...I dunno it's just an analogy...fail.
