It's finally starting to look a lot like Christmas!
It's been snowing off and on here in Michigan, nothing big and nothing that has really stuck but still. I'm trying to get in the Christmas cheer, I really am. I even attempted to listen to Christmas music on the radio this week. I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to the radio but when I'm driving through downtown and all the lights are up in the trees and it's snowing... Christmas music is just right for that moment. Too bad that's not what you get when you turn on the radio. You get commercials.
I did say I 'attempted' to listen to the radio, right? Well, it did not go well. Within two days, of driving to and from work and/or other errands, I only heard a total of 2 1/2 Christmas songs. It wasn't even any of the good ones. It was the lame Charlie Brown Christmas song and Santa Baby. Needless to say, after another ten minutes of commercials without a single song, I lost it. I lost it somewhere between the 3rd or 4th time the ad repeated the phone number for 'a chance to star your kid in the next up and coming film like the hit Eclipse!'. There was more yelling than was necessary between a human and a radio but at the end of the fight, my radio was turned off and has not been turned back on since.
On a lighter note, I think I have a new favorite ice cream flavour? This may not seem like a big deal, and it really isn't actually, but I've just always been a chocolate girl. Now though, I have to say I might like mint chocolate chip more. There's just something about it.
Made chocolate-chocolate chunk muffins this week (no pictures, I apologize) and put in my two weeks notice at the bar. My last day of work will be the 21st. It's strange. Time is moving by really fast, I hardly have time to prepare. I still have so much to do in order to be ready for Christmas and then there's packing and Idaho to get ready for. Only two weeks of work left... just wow.
I just need to rant a bit about respect now. Because respect is a big deal. I try really hard not to get in other people's business. I understand that other people have different opinions than mine and honestly, if they didn't, this would be a really boring world. So even with so many different views in life, I will always try to respect your decision and I think in turn, you should respect mine. Respect is to 'agree to recognize and abide by' or whatever. You should at least give people the respect that they deserve.
Okay, so I don't know if anyone noticed or anything but we have a president. Yeah, no big deal or anything... but I'm pretty sure no matter who the president at the time is, no matter if you approve of his positions on topics, he deserves your respect. That's all I'm going to say. I, personally, like Obama and think he's doing a fine job. I think he's good for our country. You don't? Alright then. But show the man some respect. At least hear him out and don't just roll your eyes when he gets on the screen to address the world. You don't know him personally so you can't say you outright hate him. Hate is a strong word. Just because you listen to someone doesn't mean you are agreeing to what they have to say. It just means you have enough respect to hear them out.
Rant over.
Now I'm all worked up, whoops. I just need to go listen to some Philip Glass or something. I've been listening to a lot of him lately. Ever since I heard Glassworks about a year ago, I've been going nuts. I listen to him while I bake. I listen to him while I study. I listen to him to fall asleep and I listen to him in the background while I just do other work. I honestly ought to actually buy some of his stuff. So far though, Glassworks is still my favorite.
We went out and chopped down our Christmas tree yesterday and it's beautiful. We'll probably put it up and decorate it later tonight. (maybe then I'll get my Christmas music fix from CD's with no commercial interruptions) but for now, I think I'm just going to take a nap and listen to Philip Glass.
P to the S: I've been thinking about buying myself an iPhone. Yes? No?
Nope. No respect for anyone. Ever. Nope.
