March 19, 2013

Tomorrow is the first day of spring and it looks like a blizzard outside, naturally. It's been doing this for the last two weeks. It's super nice on the weekend, reaching almost 50 degrees, melting all the snow and making it seem like winter is finally over. Then it snows all week, completely bitter until the weekend comes again to melt it and start the process all over again.

For the last week, all I've been listening to is The Next Day by David Bowie and The Sticks by Mother Mother. This is my music method. I did the same thing with The 2nd Law when it was released. I'll listen to the album, unable to listen to anything else for weeks and weeks until I've almost gotten sick and tired of it and whittled down my favorite songs.

The Next Day is amazing, David Bowie did not disappoint. David Bowie can never disappoint. It feels like he was never "retired" to begin with. I think my favorites have got to be

(You Will) Set the World on Fire

Valentine's Day (which is a lot creepier when you realize it's about a massacre)
Oops can't find a video for this one and I'm too lazy to search any further but you should check it out all on your own, ya?

And of course The Stars (Are Out Tonight)

The Sticks came out last month but I was being cheap and didn't buy it until this month which I feel like was a big mistake because I can't believe I was missing out. I'm actually going to see them live next week and quite excited. They have such a fun sound and that's why I love them so much. I can't ever thank Ceci enough for introducing me to them.

Let's Fall in Love is a wonderful twist on a classic

and Cry Forum and I promise I'm done posting music for the week.

This weekend was St. Patrick's day and that's kind of the reason I didn't write on Sunday because I was just way too busy. To celebrate I made mint chocolate truffles and decorated them with andes mints. They were so delicious that everyone ate all of them and I didn't even get a chance to take a good picture of them to throw up here. I'm probably going to make them again some day so no worries. I actually really enjoyed making them and there's so much you can do with truffles. They're a lot easier to make than you'd think.

I was supposed to go out with Olivier and Robbie after I got off work but thanks to my wonderful coworkers I ended up working open till close so instead we celebrated last night. St. Patties day just a day off, right? It doesn't matter too much when you celebrate it because dates are coincidental.

I know I had other things to say about the last week but I'm actually writing this from campus and can not for the life of me remember what all was on my 'write about' list. Maybe you'll forgive me since I gave you some pretty sweet music to listen to instead.

  1. You will make some truffles for me. And they will be delicious. And we will eat and be merry.
