Chaplin's tomato is finally starting to turn not green. It has been growing for over a month now. I don't know how long tomatoes are supposed to take but I have a feeling, it's not supposed to be this long. It's the only tomato that I'm going to get out of the little guy so it better taste good! I guess I'm going to have to find a nice recipe for it.
I've started working back at the bar again and it's the same old thing except that it's been slow. I guess that's how it's been all summer this year and no-one knows why. Kind of bad for me just because I was really hoping to get as much money as possible before I go off to Western. At least this weekend has been better but I really do hate working open to close. I've already started applying to restaurants in Kalamazoo so hopefully something will come from that. I get to move into my apartment on the 28th of August and my semester at Western begins the 4th of September.
The Olympics are over. I loved every moment, and it was even better when Google started doing the Google Doodles where you could play along. I might have gone crazy trying to beat the first one with the hurdles. I tried and tried as I might, I could not get three gold stars for that one but I got three gold stars on all the other ones. Everything was all fun even if NBC was rather stupid and messed the closing ceremonies up in a big way. All I'm saying is that if someone was going to play the official song of the 2012 London Olympics, people should be able to hear it. No Americans got to hear it at all. It was supposed to be played very frequently throughout the games and then Muse performed it for the closing ceremonies. NBC did not play it at all and then at the very end, cut Muse's performance completely. That's a bad quality video but I can't find a proper version on YouTube although there are great recordings out about on the internet.
On Tuesday, Stephanie and I went to the System of a Down concert featuring Deftones. Deftones were amazing. Oh yeah, System of a Down were pretty good as well. I'm just joking, they were really a lot better than Stephanie and I thought they would be considering she's only heard bad things about them live. We went, we rocked, we said no to drugs, and maybe got a little contact high, but lived to die another day.
That's just a section of the crowd waving their lighters. It made me happy to see that most people were still using lighters rather than cell phones at concerts because although we live in a technical age, there's very little that will top the beauty of a real flame. Which reminds me, I need a friend who will be here September 8th cause Metric is playing and I want to go. Maybe that will be the first gig I go to on my own?
Right after the Olympics, Shark Week. This week was shark week. I've
been able to secretly watch a lot of it while at work by turning the
back TV to it and not telling my manager. Whoops, don't tell. Sharks are
really cool. I don't understand why people would not want to watch sharks eat things at the same time they eat things. I do believe that it would just make it all a lot more epic. Shark week always makes me want to become one of those people, those people who are shark experts. My ocean systems class is probably not going to help this. Oh yeah, that's right, I'm taking an ocean systems class. I think it might mostly be geography and such of oceans but there's always a chance we'll talk about the living creatures in it.
I am all set for Western now and I'm actually pretty excited for some of my classes. I won't have any classes before 11am and I get Fridays off. Three day weekend every single weekend, oh yeaaah.
I am taking, Calculus and World History since 1500 (these get my generals out of the way and all of a sudden I'm wishing I had paid more attention in AP World history five years ago and actually done well on that test, oh well) The science classes I'm taking is Ocean Systems and Organismic Biology. Only 14 credits but with a job on top of that, I'll be pretty busy but still free enough to go to the Doctor Who club that exists on campus.
Which is something to look forward to this coming up weekend! The new season of Doctor Who begins and I for one am very excited!

Doctor Who club? No way. I am so jealous. You are going to have so much fun at Western.
