May 29, 2012

Really ought to be doing school work since I have much of it but this also needed to be done and I can't be lazy two weeks in a row, that's just sloppy!

The solar eclipse party thing was really fun, even if a big cloud did get in the way for most of it. I'd never been out to the dunes before even though they're only a few minutes away from Rexburg. People talk about them all the time though, and I have to admit they really are a lot of fun, reminds me a lot of the dunes at home.

Me buried all the way up to my head, thank you everyone

We picked out what we thought was the tallest dune in the whole place (there was some debate about that) but then we jumped off it/ran down. Pierce recorded us and Delancey posted it on her blog here. The one speck you see that kinda jumps down on the right and then gets back up and just runs to the bottom and just smacks into the ground? Yeah, that's me and yes, it did indeed hurt just a little bit.

I am very proud of myself because I was determined and got all my school work for the weekend over so that I could just focus on having fun this weekend since it was a long three day weekend, thank you memorial day! It was a fantastic weekend.

The theme of this weekend was: FOOD.

I honestly feel as if I have gained five or ten pounds and thank goodness we do not own a scale in this apartment because I do not want to see that number. It was all so good though, we ate out almost every single meal! We drove down (Ashleigh, Delancey, Kyle, and I) Friday afternoon and got in to Salt Lake still early enough to go to this pastry place which was delicious. We stayed at Ashleigh's cousin's house which was so close to downtown Salt Lake, it was ridiculous. Her cousin, Amanda, was so amazing to let us stay there. I honestly hope that one day I'm that cool to let three strange young adults just randomly stay in my house for a weekend. We got her a card, with cats on it (that's a very important detail you see) to say thank you before we left.

Amanda has a cat, Scarlett, who is one of the most adorable cats ever. She made me really miss Ellie a lot. I didn't get the most time with Scarlett though, she definitely preferred Kyle more than any of us girls. I'm going to tell myself that it's because of basic psychology that boys get along better with female pets and girls get along better with male pets but to be honest, I think everyone just likes Kyle.

Saturday morning, Delancey had her cousin's wedding/reception to attend so the three of us took the opportunity to just go to Temple Square and walk around. I hadn't been there since Chris and Vanessa got married so it was really nice. It was still nice even though it started pouring rain.

Other things we did while we were down there, other than a lot of shopping, was the Aquarium! I love aquariums, can I just say? Especially aquariums that have sharks! And the Salt Lake aquarium did indeed have sharks! They had a leopard shark and another one -can not remember for the life of me, whoops. This aquarium also allowed you to touch sting rays. They did not feel at all like what I thought they would feel like. Almost jelly-ish when I thought they'd be a lot more leathery. It was so cool! We were terrible at taking pictures during this trip. We all had cameras but the only picture I took was of the cockroaches at the Aquarium.

This was a big deal because finally, finally, I have seen cockroaches in real life.

The whole fish thing just continues, because Kyle and Delancey might have just gotten me addicted to River Monsters, that show on Animal Planet. We watched a bunch of that and even made it home on Monday in time for the two hour season finale of the latest season. We probably wouldn't of had to rush it so much to get back on time if we hadn't stopped to get sub zero ice cream on the way back but I'm glad we did because I was the only one who had ever had sub zero ice cream and that's just tragic. They all loved it and the calories are always worth it.

I did make an amazing find while we were down there. We went to a bunch of world markets while we were down there and I found digestives. I can honestly say that might be what I miss from England the most. Those cookies are the best, and no, they are not to help with digestion. I have no idea why they're called digestives. They didn't have my favorite though, the ones with the chocolate on one side but they did have just plain ones.

I can't believe the semester is already half way done. Time is moving way too fast. Please slow down, thanks.

Edit: Sometimes I feel like this blog just gets me into lots of trouble with people with who and who I do not mention in it. I'm just an insane girl with a blog so it's never intentional. In case anyone else was wondering I'm dating Kyle.
