Feels like only yesterday Delancey and I were 13 and barely knew each other but both thought the other was really cool and wanted to impress the other one. Somehow we did and have been friends ever since. Dancing with her at her reception just brings back memories of my frist ward dance where Lance offered to dance with me the last slow dance because we didn't have anyone else. They broke us apart and told us we weren't allowed to do that because lesbians. Feels like we've been running around breaking the rules together ever since but now she has a new partner in crime and that's okay. They make each other so happy and I couldn't be happier for them.
I left early on Thursday to set out on the 8 hour drive down to Nashville. I only stopped once, in Indianapolis to visit my grandparent's graves. We don't nearly get down there enough anymore and now that my aunt has passed away, we can no longer afford the automatic flower deliveries we used to get. It was nice to see them and, especially since it was memorial day weekend and my grandpa is a veteran, to leave some fresh flowers.
I got into Nashville at about the time I'd been planning on and then Delancey and Chelsea got in and we left for the bachelorette party! I think that's one of the reasons my eye has been twitching. Planning a party for a city you've never been to for a group of people that you don't know some of them (Marah, Phillip's younger sister was also a bridesmaid and I'd never met her before) is very stressful. Even if things didn't turn out as I'd imagined in my head, we had some good fun and were still able to wake up the next morning alright for the wedding.
Sadly, I didn't actually get many photos of the wedding or reception. I kind of just left that up to Delancey's photographer and hopefully I'll get my hands on a few copies of them whenever that happens. The wedding was on Friday then we drove to Knoxville and had the reception the next day. I didn't leave Tennessee until Sunday morning and drove back to my mum and dad's to spend most of Memorial day with them before returning to school.
I'm dealing with an internal struggle. Tennessee is beautiful. I'm almost in love. But it's Tennessee.
Pros:
Trees! So many trees you turn around and get smacked by one.
Hills! Hills with trees on them!
Warm weather! Does it snow there? I have no idea.
Nice people- seriously they all be chatty and friendly.
Cons:
Nice people- most of the time I don't like talking to people and no- please stop trying.
I didn't run into many hicks so maybe it's just a horrible stereotype? but apparently they exist?
But seriously does it snow there? If it snows there, I'm sold.
Only like two big cities?
It's Tennessee
Do you see my problem?
Saw Star Trek yesterday and it was really good, quite enjoyed it. Quite want to see it again. Myes, Benedict Cumberbatch was phenomenal. They all were, really.
Didn't get back to my apartment until 1am or so last night. I sat down to do my prelab for class today and promptly fell asleep. Without changing clothes. Without turning on an alarm clock. Without unpacking a single thing.
I woke up at 9:30 and got to experience that gut ripping shock we all experience when we realize we woke up just in time to leave for our 10am class. I got there just in time and was able to get my prelab done while on the bus and although I may not have looked fabulous wearing sweats and a baseball cap to cover my major bed head, it got the job done. Now to physically unpack. Funny how it would honestly only take ten minutes to put everything away but I have no motivation to do it so it will stay like that until the weekend.
The only productive thing I've really done today is make a quiche. Spinach and mushroom, aw yis.

That sounds like so much fun. What a great trip! Congratulations to Delancey and Phillip!
